Key details to improve the efficiency of digital printing color adjustment! Industry experts share color mixing tips

Industry experts have shared tips for color mixing to help improve efficiency in the digital textile process. Follow these tips from industry experts to improve your color adjustment process. Color adjustment can be time-consuming and costly, but with the right approach, it can be done efficiently. Improving the efficiency of our digital printing production process is critical to our competitiveness.

Digital printing with reactive oracid dyes has a longer production process, taking up to several hours for a proofing result to appear.  This greatly reduces the efficiency of proofing, which naturally also reduces the efficiency of color grading. So, how can we achieve fast and efficient color adjustment?

1. Traditional proofing process
Under normal circumstances, customers need to make one, two or even three proofs to find an acceptable color choice that matches the customer's needs or is closest to the customer's original. It not only delays time, but also affects production efficiency.

2. Print color target or color card

In a digital printing factory, anticipating and solving equipment problems before they arise is crucial. In a digital printing factory, anticipating and solving equipment problems before they arise is crucial. Regularly printing color targets or cards is an effective way to achieve this.

Our colorists will adjust the colors to be proofed by comparing the color cards.

This allows us to perform color calibration based on the originals provided by the customer before proofing, rather than waiting until the first draft is printed to make color adjustments (blind proofing).
The color card printing process involves

To ensure accurate color reproduction, we input the RGB value of the selected color block provided by the customer into the design draft. We also ensure that the edge color is printed. For example, if the customer selects color M160, we modify the RGB data to  240, 180, and 120 to accurately reproduce it.

If none of the color cards match the original color you need, reprint the edge color. The software will automatically print a batch of the closest color you select.

One-to-one corresponding RGB values for different colors.

The purpose of this is to streamline the color confirmation process during the design stage. We ensure that the design is based on colors that can be achieved in production. The production team only needs to print and provide the color card to the design team. The design team can then use the color card from the production team as a reference for color confirmation. This solution enables direct communication between design and production, reduces proofing costs, and enables closed-loop color communication.

Furthermore, creating an exclusive color card through digital printing is now a simple one-click process, resulting in significantly lower costs for designing and producing color cards that are closely integrated with production.

This eliminates the need for various general-purpose color cards available in the market. Printing equipment and editing methods limit the universality of color targets, so it is important to have a reliable and consistent system in place. To achieve a closed-loop production process, it is more efficient for the production end to print the factory's own color cards instead of specially printing universal ones.
